Regardless of technical knowledge, most people are awed and inspired by the successful completion of a beautiful new office skyscraper, a graceful long-span bridge, or a high-tech professional sports stadium. Not only am I awed and inspired, but my passion also drives me to delve deeper into the challenges of managing the project schedule and costs over the duration of the construction work. This passion has led me to now start consulting directly and solely on behalf of clients, with my own company, Bearing Construction Advisors, LLC.

Effective construction project management hinges on experienced and professional oversight of both schedules and budgets, ensuring deadlines are met and costs are controlled. This principle has been the cornerstone of my 40-year career in construction management and development.

Based in Chicago, I have successfully managed the design and construction of industrial warehouse developments and tenant office improvement projects across over 30 US states. Collaborating effectively with local architects and contractors, I have demonstrated that a professionally managed budget and schedule lead to successful projects, despite regional differences in building design, codes, and characteristics.

Throughout my career, I have gained diverse experience working for large real estate providers like JLL and smaller, family-owned development and construction businesses. Regardless of the company size, maintaining a professionally managed budget and schedule has been essential to ensuring positive results.

My experience extends to educational facility projects, including numerous Chicago Public School building renovations and a recent advanced science wing renovation at a private high school. Education holds a personal significance for me, as evidenced by my master's degree in construction management from USC and my commitment to teaching. I have shared my expertise as an instructor at BOMA Chicago and as a guest lecturer at universities and high schools.

In addition to teaching, I am dedicated to community service, demonstrated through decades of volunteer work with organizations like Wellness House Hinsdale, Marist High School Chicago, and Marquette University. My involvement in fundraising and capital improvement campaigns has underscored the importance of managing budgets and schedules, setting goals, and communicating status, ensuring success by applying construction management principals.
